Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP investigates fatal head on collision between two tractor trailers on TCH near Bishops Falls

Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP remains at the scene of a fatal head-on collision between two tractor trailers that occurred yesterday evening on the Trans-Canada Highway near Bishops Falls. Neither driver survived the collision.

Shortly before 9:00 p.m., police received the report of the collision and attended the scene where two transport trucks, both carrying heavy loads, collided head-on and burst into flames. Debris from the collision and contents from the trailers was scattered across the roadway, creating a large area to be processed. A Collision Reconstructionist with RCMP Traffic Services attended the scene and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is engaged.

The TCH is expected to remain impassable over the next couple of days as police and crews continue to process and clean up the scene.
