The President received the US Ambassador, and was briefed on the positive atmosphere of negotiations, by Kubis.
President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, focused in his meetings today, on the course of indirect negotiations to demarcate Southern maritime borders.
US Ambassador, Dorothy Shea:
In this context, the President met with the US Ambassador to Lebanon, Mrs. Dorothy Shea, today at Baabda Palace, and deliberated with her the Lebanese-US relations and methods of developing these relations.
The meeting also tackled the indirect negotiations to demarcate Southern maritime borders, which are ongoing at UNIFIL headquarters in Naqoora town, where a representative of the United States of America participates as a facilitating mediator. The general situation in light of recent developments was also discussed in the meeting.
In addition, the President met UN Special Coordinator in Lebanon, Mr. Jan Kubis, who briefed him on the deliberations of the two rounds of indirect negotiations to demarcate Southern maritime borders, held last Wednesday and Thursday.
Mr. Kubis also briefed President Aoun on the positive atmosphere prevailing the negotiations, despite the presence of different points of view, which are under negotiations that will resume next month.
On the international side, Mrs. Lina Al-Kidwa attended the meeting, in addition to former Minister, Salim Jreisatti, Presidency Director General, Dr. Antoine Choucair, and diplomatic advisor, Osama Khashab, on the Lebanese side.
