Amador County Public Health (ACPH) reports a post-Thanksgiving holiday increase in cases with 65 more individuals with COVID-19 since last Tuesday (83% unvaccinated). Cases include 23 children under 18 years, 30 age 18-49, 7 age 50-64, and 5 age 65 and above. Confirmed cases in 2021 total 2,611. There are currently 47 active cases in isolation. Two additional deaths due to COVID-19 this week, both males in their 60s.

California continues to closely monitor the new Omicron variant. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has published an updated fact sheet and map. Last week, the new variant was identified in the United States, including California. Despite the increased attention to Omicron, Delta continues to be the main variant circulating in the United States.Vaccination is the best way to protect yourself, your family, and your loved ones. Wearing a mask when indoors in public, regardless of vaccination status, continues to provide another layer of protection.

No-cost COVID-19 vaccine clinics are held at the Health and Human Services Building (HHS) on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday from 9 AM to 6 PM. Walk-in opportunities may be very limited. To ensure an appointment visit the myturn.ca.gov website or call 1-833-422-4255. To schedule an appointment for a homebound individual call Amador Public Health at (209) 223-6407.

All three COVID-19 vaccines are available for any dose including booster doses.

  • Everybody over 18 years is advised to get a booster
  • Anyone who received Johnson & Johnson more than two months ago is recommended to get a booster.
  • Those who received Pfizer or Moderna are recommended to get their booster at least six months after their second dose.
  • People may receive a booster shot of either the vaccine they originally received or a different vaccine.

Schedule a booster dose appointment at myturn.ca.gov. Please bring your vaccination card, a photo of your card, or digital record that shows the dates of your previous dose(s).

COVID-19 vaccines are available for everyone age 5 and over. Parents who are interested in vaccinating their children may speak with their pediatrician or visit myturn.ca.gov to schedule an appointment. Retail pharmacy availability may be checked at vaccines.gov.

The OptumServe testing site continues to operate on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 7 AM to 7 PM. Please register for this no-cost testing at the lhi.care website or by calling 1-888-634-1123. OptumServe will accommodate walk-ins on a limited basis. Masks are required at the testing site. Get tested 1-3 days before a gathering, or before and after travel, even if you have no symptoms. Anyone who is exhibiting symptoms, even fully vaccinated individuals, should isolate and get tested.
