TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Lane Closures on Lasalle Street and Poydras Street

NEW ORLEANS - The City of New Orleans Department of Public Works' construction contractor Murphy Pipeline Construction, LLC has implemented lane closures to continue subsurface utility repairs and perform roadway restoration.

Lane closures are being held for southbound traffic on Lasalle Street from Perdido Street to Poydras Street and for westbound traffic on Poydras Street from Lasalle Street to South Robertson Street. Vehicle traffic approaching Poydras Street from Perdido Street will be detoured to Loyola Avenue to continue onto Poydras Street.

Temporary lane closures for this work will remain active until Friday May 31 at 5p.m. This closure will allow crews to perform repairs as part of the $10.5 million DPW672 Isaac Wave Drainage Project. Public safety is top priority; therefore, signage and traffic control measures, such as barricades and fencing, will be onsite to direct drivers and pedestrians to the safest route of travel.

The $10.5 million DPW672 Isaac Wave Drainage Project will be removing, replacing and repairing existing water and drainage lines. Roadway repaving will also be completed for these blocks. The project is currently scheduled to begin wrapping up Spring 2024.

Since May 2018, DPW has completed 186 projects with an estimated value of $765 million. Today, 55 roadwork projects are under construction with an estimated value of nearly $781 million.
