WASHINGTON, DC - House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul (R-TX), and Chairman Gregory W. Meeks (D-NY), and Senate Foreign Relations Committee Ranking Member Jim Risch (R-ID), and Chairman Bob Menendez (D-NJ), today released the following statement reaffirming support for renewal of cross-border humanitarian access to Syria during the upcoming United Nations Security Council (UNSC) vote.

"We vehemently condemn the Russian government's efforts to hinder the delivery of badly needed aid to the Syrian people and to perpetuate the numerous atrocities being committed against the people of Syria by the Assad regime, Russia, and Iran. Cross-border aid delivery is critical in providing more than 14 million innocent civilians with lifesaving access to food and medical care, without which they will suffer greatly. We therefore strongly urge the UNSC to maintain cross-border humanitarian access to Syria by voting to renew Resolution 2585."
