Birth Defects Awareness Month

Mayor Lester Miller has also declared January 2022 Birth Defects Awareness Month. It is estimated 1 in 33 babies is born with some form of a birth defect,(3,940 of those in Georgia), and sadly, one in six infant deaths are due to these defects. They can occur in any child regardless of sex, race, ethnicity, health history, or socio-economic status. Atrium Health Navicent is urging everyone to learn about birth defects and help all families get the information and proper care they need before, during, and after the birthing process.
