Burglary From Motor Vehicle Arrests in the Westchester and Playa Del Rey Areas NR24128cm/ma

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific Area auto detectives announce the arrests of two juveniles believed to be responsible for multiple burglaries from motor vehicles in the Westchester and Playa Del Rey areas.

During the early morning hours of January 20, 2024, two suspects smashed the windows of over 60 parked vehicles in the Westchester area. Los Angeles Police Department Pacific Area detectives collected video footage which showed the suspects wearing dark-colored hooded sweatshirts while they smashed vehicle windows, removed property, and fled on foot.

On April 14, 2024, 15 additional vehicles were broken into in the Westchester area under similar circumstances.

On April 21, 2024, another 17 vehicles were broken into in the Playa Del Rey area. During the investigation, Pacific Area officers and detectives were able to determine the location of the subjects. Two juveniles were identified from video from several of the crimes and were detained in an apartment complex in the 7500 block of Manchester Avenue. Officers recovered multiple items of evidence in the apartment including burglary tools, multiple backpacks, ID cards, and credit cards.

Both subjects were arrested and booked for violation of 459 PC: Burglary from Motor Vehicle and released to their parents. The investigation is ongoing and will be presented to the District Attorney's Office for felony filing consideration.
