Pantsir-S air-defence systems will perform air defence tasks during Selenga 2022 joint Russian-Mongolian exercise

During the practical part of the joint Russian-Mongolian exercise Selenga 2022, which started the day before, the air defence tasks will be performed by crews of anti-aircraft gun and missile systems Pantsir-S of the Air Force and Air Defence of the Eastern Military District. It should be noted that this is the first use of modern equipment by the air defence forces of the Russian Armed Forces in the history of the Russian-Mongolian Selenga exercise.

SAM systems will perform training and combat missions as part of a joint tactical grouping of the armies of the two countries, and will be used to destroy air and ground targets using standard rocket and cannon weapons.

The vehicles travelled in two columns on public roads, as well as on separate sections of field roads. In the course of the troop redeployment exercise, a sabotage attack by mock enemy group was repelled under cover of crews of the Russian Armed Forces Mi-8AMTSh and Mi-24 helicopters, which were also taking part in the exercise.

A total of more than 1,200 servicemen are taking part in the exercise, and some 300 pieces of military equipment are being used.
