Paul Weiss Assists in Researching and Drafting Reports on the State of Voting Rights

Paul, Weiss assisted the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and the New York Civil Liberties Union in researching and drafting reports on the state of voting rights in both Arizona and New York. The reports, which have been submitted to Congress, detail historical and ongoing sources of voter discrimination in those states, especially in the wake of Shelby County v. Holder, and may be referenced in support of federal voting rights legislation, including the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. The New York report was introduced into the congressional record by Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA) on October 6 during a hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee titled "Protecting a Precious, Almost Sacred Right: The John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act."
