Guanizuil solar plant in Argentina officially opened

Yesterday, Wednesday 20 October Scatec together with our partner Equinor celebrated the inauguration of our solar park Guanizuil IIA, in Argentina.

We are change makers, and we are committed to contribute to the expansion of clean energies. This is what we do, and we do it in accordance with our sustainability guidance worldwide. As operator, Scatec has led the project during the construction phase and now going into commercial operations. We are also pleased to work together with Equinor as co-sponsor, an energy world leader. "San Juan province, as several other regions in Argentina, has unique renewable resources and we expect to continue growing through a collaboration with national and provincial authorities" said Franco Martin, country manager of Scatec Argentina and director of Cordillera Solar VIII S.A.

The Guanizuil IIA project is part of the Renewable Energy tender programmes (RenovAR) organised by the Argentine Government which resulted in more than 2.4 GW of new Renewable Energy capacity. The plant is owned and operated 50% by Scatec and 50% by Equinor. It is expected to produce about 305 GWh annually, providing green electricity to 80,000 households.

The celebration started with a big reception, and the main authorities had an exclusive tour around the site. Franco Martin, Senior Finance & Asset Manager gave a speech, so did the Ambassador Lars Ole Vaagen, Country Manager of Equinor Nidia Alvarez, and Governor Sergio Uñac.
