Got Junk? Residents Can Now Schedule Bulk Pickup Online



NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (May 2, 2024) - The City has debuted a new online bulk pickup scheduling system allowing residents to schedule pick up appointments online for bulk furniture, scrap metal, brush and more by visiting: www.cityofnewbrunswick.org/bulkpickup.

There is a maximum combination of six trash cans/bags or bulk items collected per unit, per special collection, once scheduled.

Items that can be collected curbside include:

  • Bulk - Large items such as furniture, mattresses and box springs (these must be completely wrapped in plastic), rugs, or extra trash cans/bags
  • Scrap Metal and Appliances - Metal cabinets, bed frames, bikes, dishwashers, microwaves, stoves, ovens, washers, dryers, water heaters, etc.
  • CFC (chlorofluorocarbons) - Appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, and water coolers. All CFCs will be carefully removed from appliances containing refrigerants by the City of New Brunswick.
  • Brush - Branches, twigs and woody plants not exceeding 5 inches in diameter. Residents should tie branches with string in bundles no longer than 4 feet in length and no heavier than 50 pounds, Brush will be accepted as bundles or containers, Place small twigs less than one foot long in open, rigid containers without lids. No brush will be picked up in bags. Tree stumps, leaves and grass are not included in the brush program.
