PM BAINIMARAMA VISITS DUBAI MULTI COMMODITIES CENTRE (DMCC)- (08-12-2021)

Dubai - Prime Minister Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama this afternoon visited the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre - the largest tax free zone in the UAE, with more than 18,000 registered members as of this year.
The DMCC supports commodity trading through organizations such as the Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE), the Dubai Pearl Exchanges (DPE), DMCC Tradeflow, the Dubai Good Delivery Standard (DGD) for Gold, the DMCC Tea Centre, and the DMCC Coffee Centre.
During the visit, the DMCC Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Bin Sulayem informed Prime Minister Bainimarama that DMCC is the world's most interconnected free zone and the leading trade hub for commodities. Additionally DMCC is proud to sustain and grow Dubai's position as the place to be for global trade.
Establishments and individuals operating in DMCC are exempted from all taxes including income tax for a period of 50 years.
Prime Minister Bainimarama acknowledged DMCC's contribution to the UAE economy adding that as a developed nation, Fiji looks to the UAE for trade relations enhancement.
The Prime Minister added that DMCC is world-class set up of a tax-free zone. Through foresight, dedication and investment DMCC has attracted global brands to Dubai, positioning Dubai as the hub, - driving jobs, investment and economic growth. We in Fiji have the same vision, as we continue to develop our Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Lautoka. Following the visit to DMCC, and through our established network, we aim to attract global and regional brands to Fiji as a competitive business destination. And create employment and business opportunities for Fijians, securing our economic future.
