Arcadia opens its season at home versus Rutgers-Camden in the first game of their tip-off tournament on November 9. The squad faces a tough non-conference schedule, which is highlighted by Gwynedd Mercy, Swarthmore College and DeSales University. The Griffins were eliminated in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, while the Garnet fell to Wisconsin-Oshkosh in the national championship game.
'Competing against local powers during our non-conference schedule will hopefully prepare us for conference play,' said Van Zelst. 'We are looking forward to competing against some of the best programs and coaches in the region.'
The Knights open a four-game stretch of conference play versus Albright College on December 4. Arcadia edged out the Lions, 77-73, in last year's MAC Commonwealth semifinals to sweep the season series. The team travels to Widener University in a championship rematch on January 22.
'With a lot of new additions surrounding our program, we will try to get better everyday,' added Van Zelst. 'We're focused on playing our best basketball come January when we enter the heart of our conference schedule.'
Last season, Arcadia collected a 23-6 overall record with a 14-2 conference mark. The Knights defeated New Jersey City University, 80-60, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, but fell to Marrieta College, 88-76, in round two. The program returns nine players from last season's roster, including the reigning MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year, .
