RIVERSIDE, CA - On Friday, June 2, 2017, at about 6:55 p.m., the Riverside Police and Fire Dispatch Center received several calls regarding a possible "hit and run" traffic collision involving a pedestrian being struck on Chicago Avenue at Third Street. Officers along with personnel from the Riverside Fire Department responded and located a male victim lying in the roadway. The victim, described only as a male adult in his late teens, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and is currently in grave condition.
The initial investigation determined an unknown vehicle was travelling south on Chicago Avenue from Third Street when a passenger door opened and the victim fell out. It is still unclear if the victim intentionally jumped out or was pushed from the moving vehicle. The vehicle continued south on Chicago Avenue and did not stop after the victim fell. There is no description of the vehicle at this time.
Detectives from the Robbery - Homicide Unit and Technicians from the Forensics Unit responded to the scene to assist. This investigation is ongoing and there are no other details available at this time. If anyone has information about this incident, please contact Detective Mike O'Boyle at (951) 353-7213 or Detective David Smith at (951) 353-7103.
