Lithium-ion batteries disposal
We are noticing an increase in the amount of lithium-ion batteries being disposed of improperly. They are a major fire hazard. You can drop them off for free at our Household Hazardous Waste center at 2115 E. Club Blvd, and some home improvement stores.
Lithium-ion batteries are NOT safe for curbside garbage or recycling. They are dangerous to the trucks, transfer station tipping floor, transfer trailers, materials recovery facility, and landfill as they all are potential fire sources for these very dangerous items.
The City provides a Household Hazardous Waste drop off site for these, and other dangerous household items. It is located at 2115 E. Club Blvd and is open M-F from 7:30 am - 4 pm and Saturday from 7:30 am - noon. You can also check with your local home improvement store as many of them will also take these batteries for free.
