Our Work Readiness Program is Paving the Way to Success for Wheelchair Users

With generous support from Coca-Cola, United Spinal launched our Work Readiness program to support wheelchair users through their employment journey. Through weekly meetings, participants learn how to craft a compelling resume, prepare for interviews, navigate benefits & accommodations, and leverage technology.

Greg Houck, an international wheelchair rugby player and a C5-6 quadriplegic, reflects on his experience. As an entrepreneur for the last 30 years, Greg has never had an official resume or experience with interviews. "It was the first time I've ever had to do a resume because I've always worked for myself. The session was very detailed and perfected my resume," he says.

"The interview process was always my weakest link. They really went in depth, took it step by step and walked us right through it."

Greg was also impressed to learn about the technology and benefits available for employees with disabilities. He appreciated connecting to and learning from the experiences of the speakers. "I can't thank the speakers enough for taking their time and how professional and educational they were," says Greg. "They took the time to talk to you and give you a hand in your own journey."

United Spinal's Pathways to Employment program helps wheelchair users return to work and supports employers in making their business more inclusive. Join us by signing up for a free membership. To support our mission, donate here.
