WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, Congresswoman Jacky Rosen (NV-03) released the following statement in recognition of Korean American Day, which commemorates the arrival of the first Korean immigrants to the United States and their immense contributions to our society:
'Korean Americans have helped contribute to the rich, diverse culture that makes Southern Nevada such a vibrant place,' said Rosen. 'We are home to one of the largest Korean American populations in the country, and I am proud to support and honor their heritage. I am the granddaughter of immigrants, and it's incumbent on us to never forget the struggles that immigrant families and communities have endured in search of a better life here and a shot at the American dream.'
BACKGROUND: Nevada has the ninth-highest Korean American population per capita in the United States. Rosen is a co-sponsor of a resolution to support the goals and ideals of Korean American Day, which was commemorated for national observation by Congress in 2005.
