A portion of N Himes Avenue between W Spruce Street and W Cypress Street will close beginning on Monday, December 10, 2018, as part of the Midtown Tampa development project. A utility contractor will be installing water and sewer mains on N Himes Avenue between I-275 and W Nassau Street as part of the next phase of construction.
During the initial portion of the work, one (1) northbound and one (1) southbound lane on N Himes Avenue between W Cypress Street and the I-275 northbound on-ramp will close at 9 am on December 10, 2018. The raised median at N Himes Avenue and W Nassau Street will be temporarily removed to allow northbound left turn movements onto W Nassau Street to access N Clearview Avenue and W Arch Street during construction. One (1) northbound and one (1) southbound lane of traffic will be maintained at all times during construction, with delays. This work is scheduled to be completed by 4 pm on Monday, December 10, 2018.
At 9 am on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, both southbound lanes on N Himes Avenue between the I-275 northbound on-ramp and W Nassau Street will close. The westbound left turn lane on the W Green Street/I-275 southbound off-ramp will also be closed during construction. Northbound left turn movements on N Himes Avenue at W Arch Street will be prohibited during construction.
The sidewalk on the west side of N Himes Avenue between the I-275 northbound on-ramp and W Cypress Street will be closed during construction. Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks with signage.
All lanes on N Himes Avenue will be open by 2 pm on Thursday, December 20, 2018, weather permitting.
The City of Tampa recommends that motorist use alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.
