Prime Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă’s meeting with a delegation from the UK Royal College of Defence Studies

Prime Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă met today, at Victoria Palace, with a delegation made up of members of the UK Royal College of Defence Studies.

The delegation included senior military personnel from security and defence institutions from several states, and members of the Global Strategy Program, a course focusing on stability and high-level security topics.

During the talks, the Prime Minister analyzed the Black Sea security situation and had an exchange of views on the impact of the Russian military aggression in Ukraine, focusing on the Allied solidarity and our country's efforts to manage the consequences of rising energy and natural gas prices, including by pursuing the goal of achieving energy independence.

Prime Minister Ciucă presented the geostrategic situation in the region, Romania's strategies and instruments in the field of national security, but also the way of managing the situation in Ukraine and the actions taken by the Romanian Government in support of refugees.

Prime Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă also emphasized that Romania, from the time of the illegal occupation of Crimea in 2014 to the current large-scale aggression, has strongly supported the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, within its internationally recognized borders.

"The security umbrella provided by NATO has prompted, in the context of Allied solidarity, a highlight of the importance of the strongest politico-military construction, a context in which Romania continues to comprehend and support the importance of the enlargement process, as in the case of the European Union. For Romania, which capitalizes on its EU and NATO membership, modernization, digitalization, cutting through the red tape and training of officials are essential to ensure sustainable economic growth. We are in a complicated moment, which nevertheless confirms the right track of governmental decisions, by recently placing Romania at the top of economic growth at the European level", stated Prime Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă.
