Escalator closures at Montgomery and Powell St. stations for new unit installations

BART is moving forward with its Market Street Escalators Renovation Project by beginning prep work this month for the next set of new escalators to be installed at the Montgomery Street and Powell Street stations. Three escalators will be replaced in this next round of work (see table) including the plaza level unit at One Post Plaza at Montgomery, a platform-level escalator at Montgomery, and a platform-level escalator at Powell.

BART has reopened the south side entrance at the corner of Market & New Montgomery in front of the Sheraton Palace for ease of access while the north side escalator at One Post Plaza is closed during construction. Also, the east side platform escalator at Powell Street Station will be temporarily closed starting in late May for the start of replacement work.
