Augustana Volleyball Signs Four on Signing Day

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. --Augustana volleyball head coach announced Wednesday the signing of four Vikings for the incoming freshman class of 2020. The class includes Cora McCoid, Callie Hohenhaus, Sam Miller and Hannah Prasky.

'We are looking forward to having these four join the squad,' Jacobs said. 'They each bring their own unique talent to the team but will also fill some gaps we will need to as well that fall. Augie volleyball continues to get better!'

Cora McCoid | Defensive Specialist/Libero | Elkhorn, Nebraska | Millard West High School
McCoid helped Millard West to its ninth-consecutive state appearance and an A-5 district championship while finishing with a record of 21-12 in the 2019 season. She earned the NSAA NCPA Academic All-State Award in recognition of her academic excellence and exemplary leadership during her season senior.

McCoid plans on majoring in nursing while at Augustana.

'Cora is one the fans will be delighted to get to know,' Jacobs said. 'She is smiling all the time and works so hard on the court. A DS/Libero, she will complement our current defending group and continue to hold the bar high as far as effort and pursuit of the ball.'

Callie Hohenhaus | Middle Blocker | Apple Valley, Minnesota | Nova Classical Academy
Hohenhaus was a four-year starter and four-year letter winner for Nova Classical Academy. She was a three-time all-conference player that averaged 3.6 kills set (150 total) and 15 blocks her junior season. Hohenhaus plans to major in biology at Augustana.

'Callie is a hidden gem, after only starting to play major club volleyball late in her career,' Jacobs said. 'She is one who in a year or so people are going to wonder how they missed out on recruiting her! Another middle as we graduate two the following year, Callie will bring height and length to our middle group. She is tall in stature, and long blocking arms for days. She's able to hit almost anywhere and has a very high ceiling!'

Sam Miller | Setter | Waunakee, Wisconsin | Waunakee High School
Miller was a three-year starter and three-year letter winner for Waunakee High School. In the 2019 season, she recorded 33 kills, 89 aces, 274 digs and 697 assists. She earned all-conference honorable mention her junior year after recording 18 kills, 39 aces, 174 digs and 498 assists.

Miller plans to major in biology at Augustana and hopes to become an occupational therapist after school.

'Samantha will round out our offensive setter group in 2020 as we graduate this year,' Jacobs said. 'She has what most people say 'beautiful' hands. Her release on the ball is quick, and her location is on point. We no doubt will be stronger overall with her talent on the team!'

Hannah Prasky | Middle Blocker | Champlin, Minnesota | Champlin Park High School
Prasky was a four-year letter winner and a three-year starter for Champlin Park High School. In her senior season, Prasky totaled 161 kills on a .265 hitting percentage and recorded 53 blocks. 'We are so excited to have Hannah join our program,' Jacobs said. 'Fans will love this one as she has a bubbly personality you cannot miss! Hannah is strong and physical, she is great off of one foot and can also hit on the right side if we need her to. We are looking forward to having her!'
