ESM Appoints Cédric Crelo as Head of Communications and Chief Spokesperson

(Luxembourg) - The ESM has appointed Cédric Crelo to the position of Head of Communications and Chief Spokesperson as of 1 September 2021.

Mr Crelo is currently Head of the International Relations and Communications Department at the Central Bank of Luxembourg, a position he has held since 2013. At the Central Bank, he also held positions as Personal Assistant to the Governor and Secretary to the Executive Board, the Council and the Audit Committee. He also represents the Central Bank in the European Commission's Economic and Financial Committee (EFC), the European Central Bank's International Relations Committee (IRC), and the Network of Central Banks and Supervisors for Greening the Financial System (NGFS). Mr Crelo was also Luxembourg's representative at the International Monetary Fund and the Asian Development Bank.

Mr Crelo holds a Masters in International Public Policy from the Johns Hopkins University (SAIS) in Washington DC, a Masters in European Studies from Université Pierre Mendès France in Grenoble, and a Masters in Business Economics and Finance from Université Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg. He also holds a certificate in Sustainable Finance from the University of Cambridge.

Mr Crelo will replace Wolfgang Proissl, who left the ESM on 31 December 2020 to take up the position of Director General Communications at the European Central Bank.
