Sber and Perm Krai government hold roadshow for investors

Sber has assisted the Perm Krai government in hosting a roadshow to present the region's potential. The roadshow was held at Sber's 32, Kutuzovsky Prospekt office in Moscow.

Sberbank CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board Herman Gref welcomed the audience. Governor of Perm Krai Dmitry Makhonin presented the region's investment potential to the guests. Also addressing the investors were Deputy Chairman of the Perm Krai Government and Minister of Industry and Trade for Perm Krai Alexey Chibisov, Minister of Economic Development and Investments for Perm Krai Eduard Sosnin, Acting Minister of Agriculture and Food for Perm Krai Pavel Noskov, and Deputy Chairman of the Perm Krai Government Alexey Chernikov.

The speakers presented Perm Krai's achievements and plans to develop the industrial sector, infrastructure, agriculture, and tourism, including through public-private partnership tools. Group discussions on industry prospects then took place.

I think everyone knows what Perm is. It's one of the most promising regions in the country. It's a region that encompasses a grand combination of factors. Firstly, raw materials, oil, an enormous variety of mineral resources. Secondly, traditional industry - Perm is a major industrial region. Thirdly, Perm is an innovative region. Since my youth I have been aware of two things about Perm - its IT companies and its culture. Perm is home to some fantastically talented people.

For our part, we will strive to do everything we can to strengthen Russia through its major cities, like a number of European countries. There should be a dozen other territories in Russia, apart from the Moscow and St. Petersburg metropolitan areas, that are capable of competing. We would very much like for the Perm metropolitan area to be one of these appealing locations. The most important role in the economy is played by entrepreneurs, and we need to support them.

CEO, Chairman of the Executive Board, Sberbank

The composition of our participants shows that investors - major medical holdings, industrial enterprises, IT companies - are interested in Perm Krai. Parties are interested in the development of agriculture and construction. Another promising area for the development of the regional economy is investments in woodworking and ski resorts. I think each potential investor will find a niche for themselves. We are open to investments, because that is what lays the foundation for the development of our territories, the creation of new jobs, and the expansion of the social sphere. We have various projects subject to conceptualizing in terms of the financial model applied. Depending on the investors' interests, we are prepared to co-finance projects and mobilize federal capital grants. We also expect investments to help us reduce the burden on our budget. We have a lot we need to do to make Perm Krai an attractive region both for investors and for its residents. We are not dreamers. We understand that turning the tide of migration will take time, but we need to spend that time productively - creating a comfortable new urban environment, ensuring quality education, making life in the region appealing to young people, and increasing the number of jobs with a salary higher than the national average. All this requires investments and time, but chances are good. I believe in Perm Krai, and I hope our collaboration with Sber will be long-term and productive.
