Concert in Strule Arts Centre for Seachtain na Gaeilge Rescheduled

Published: 20th April 2018

As part of the annual international Irish language festival, Seachtain na Gaeilge which runs from 1 - 17 March, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council was to host Ceolchoirm na Féile (Festival Concert) in early March. Due to bad weather that event was postponed.

The Council has rescheduled this event to take place in Strule Arts Centre on Thursday 31 May 2018 at 8 pm. This night of entertainment will feature Las, an exciting new five-piece female group and well know local trad music group Spraoi.

Las (meaning ignite) comprise well-known musicians from the contemporary Celtic music scene. Through their music, they explore Scotland and Ireland's shared cultural links through exhilarating dance/music collaborations. Featuring an electrifying musical blend of fiddle, button accordion, keyboard, guitar, whistles and shruti box, they combine lively music numbers with beautiful arrangements of songs in both Scottish Gàidhlig/Irish language and Scottish step dance / sean-nós dance routines.

Two members of Las, Joy Dunlop, Scotland and Edel Ní Churraoin, Connemara will facilitate workshops in singing in Irish and Scots Gaelic and in Scottish step and sean-nós dancing between 4 and 6 pm on Thursday 1 March in Strule Arts Centre.

Tickets for Ceolchoirm na Féile priced at £5.00 are available online at www.struleartscentre.co.uk or through the Strule Arts Centre Box Office on 028 8224 7831.
