Congressman Aderholt Statement on President Biden’s Proposed Changes to Title IX

WASHINGTON-Congressman Aderholt (AL-04) released the following statement on President Biden's proposed changes to Title IX of the Education Amendments of the Civil Rights Act.

"Today marks the 50th Anniversary of Title IX of the Education Amendments to the Civil Rights Act that became law in 1972. The law sparked increased female participation as more opportunities became available after equaling the playing field between men and women in the athletic arena.

Now, fair, safe and equal competition in women's sports is threatened by the Biden Administration's transgender agenda. Biden's proposed changes would create a distinct disadvantage to biological females competing against biological males. It completely violates the spirit of Title IX - which was to bring greater opportunities for women.

I join with the many voices who recognize the inherent unfairness of Biden's proposal. Within the last week, FINA and the International Rugby League, both international organizations, banned biological males who identify as females from competing in women's leagues.

Title IX opened the door to new opportunities for millions of women, and it is our job to make sure those opportunities continue to protect women athletes. We cannot allow Biden's radical transgender priorities to hijack this important law."
