Jimmies start off weekend with win at Briar Cliff

SIOUX CITY, Iowa-- The 11th-ranked University of Jamestown continued its winning ways Friday, defeating Briar Cliff University in four sets. Set scores were 25-20, 25-20, 18-25, 25-20.

The Jimmies, now 19-3 overall and 7-1 in Great Plains Athletic Conference games, got 10 kills from Britta Knudson (SR/Bismarck, N.D.) and eight more from Jordan Thomas (SR/Pingree, N.D.).

Jamestown hit just .135 as a team, their second-lowest percentage in a match this season, but were helped out by Briar Cliff hitting just .132. UJ took advantage of 24 Charger attack errors and nine service errors.

Miranda Lowman (SR/Mandan, N.D.) recorded a double-double with 25 assists and 10 digs. Jackie Meiklejohn (SO/Dickey, N.D.) added 13 assists.

Sydney Ellingson (JR/Langdon, N.D.) finished with a career-high 27 digs, followed by Hannah Schiele (SO/Jamestown, N.D.) with 18. Anna Holen (SO/LaMoure, N.D.) was also in double figures with 13.

Knudson totaled four blocks while Taylor Sabinash (SO/Kensal, N.D.) and Corina Ruud (JR/Breezy Point, Minn.) were credited with three each.

UJ is at No. 25 Morningside on Saturday. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
