Cole Statement on the Passing of Former Senator Joe Lieberman

"I learned of the passing of former Senator Joe Lieberman with genuine sadness and regret. America has truly lost one of 'the better angels of our nature,'" said Congressman Cole. "I interacted with Joe Lieberman quite a few times over the course of his career as a Senator and as a Member of various commissions and study groups. He was one of the most decent and amiable people I ever encountered. Senator Lieberman was instinctively bipartisan and always put the country's interests above his own personal or parochial concerns. No one ever questioned his patriotism or his determination to do the right thing for our country. I extend my deepest sympathy to the Lieberman family, and to the Senator's many friends and admirers. Joe Lieberman loved America and all Americans mourn his loss."
