Flores and Hyde Begin Year with MWC Performer of the Week Honors

GRINNELL, Iowa - The Illinois College track & field team began the 2019-20 season with two members of the squad earning Midwest Conference Performer of the Week honors. Seniors and each won events at the Illinois Wesleyan First Chance Meet on Saturday and rank among the best in those events at the NCAA Division III level.

Flores was the winner of the men's weight throw in a field of 15 competitors, coming up just short of his school record with a distance of 54-2.5. The mark is currently the best in the MWC and ranked sixth nationally in all of NCAA Division III.

Hyde was champion of the women's 60 Meter Dash at the event. She ran a PR of 7.79 seconds in the prelims and then won the final with a time of 7.86 seconds. Her time of 7.79 is the second-fastest time in program history for the Lady Blues and is ranked third nationally in Division III.

Illinois College is now off until January, returning to competition with the Midwest Invitational, hosted by Monmouth College on Jan. 18.
