Night closures planned at two Eugene/Springfield area projects

OR 569 Beltline/Delta Interchange Project

In May, the Beltline/ Delta Interchange Project takes shape for travelers. By the end of the month, everyone exiting from eastbound Beltline Highway to Delta Highway will take the same exit. Northbound Delta Highway travelers will have a traffic signal at the top of the exit to make the left turn. The current off ramp from eastbound Beltline Highway to northbound Delta Highway closes and will be removed. Southbound Delta traffic will stop at the new, additional signal to allow northbound traffic to turn. While a lot of modeling of the intersection has been done, expect that there will be some adjustment needed as everyone gets used to the new light.

Travelers should expect lane closures at night on Beltline Highway in both directions throughout May in Eugene. Crews are working on the new bridge and paving to prepare for the new northbound Delta Highway ramp and traffic signal.

The eastbound Beltline Highway to Delta Highway ramp closes at night, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., May 16 to 20. Day work focuses on the new lane that will take traffic from eastbound Beltline Highway to Delta Highway.

The Beltline/Delta Interchange project is designed to increase safety and improve traffic flow for a key transportation point in Eugene. It will also help everyone transition from the highway system to traveling in a growing business and residential area.

All closures may change based on weather conditions. Construction began in late 2019 and is scheduled to be completed in August.

OR 126B Willamette River Bridge

Work has resumed on the westbound OR 126 Willamette River Bridge in Springfield. Travelers should expect single lane closures at night, Sunday to Thursday, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. At times the entire bridge will close to move materials, but delays should be no longer than 20 minutes.

The historic westbound bridge over the Willamette River on OR 126B needs repairs. Repairs made now will help preserve and extend the life of the bridge, avoiding the need for more critical repairs in the future. During this project the bridge will be strengthened and repainted.

Work is being done in stages to keep both lanes open during the day. Alternate routes are available to avoid the construction area.

Where traffic is routed through or around a work zone, pedestrians, including those with disabilities, will also be provided routes through or around the work zone.
