Witness CSCEC's 40th Founding Anniversary: Highlights of CSCEC's overseas road projects

The year 2022 marks the 40th anniversary of the founding of CSCEC. Now, let's take a look at some important "happiness roads" paved by CSCEC builders around the world in the past 40 years.

The National Road No.1 of the Republic of the Congo

With a total length of about 536 km, the project is the only four-lane, two-way asphalt road running east-west of the country. After the completion of the whole line, the one-way travel time between the capital Brazzaville and the economic center of Pointe Noire has been shortened from one week to 6 hours. Traffic conditions between central cities. The road, known as the "Dream Road" of the Republic of the Congo, which has greatly improved the traffic conditions between the country's central cities.

PKM Project in Pakistan

The PKM project is the abbreviation of Peshawar-Karachi Motorway. It is the largest transportation infrastructure project in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. The motorway starts from Karachi in the south and ends at Peshawar in the north, with a total length of 1,152 kilometers. CSCEC has undertaken the PKM project (Sukkur-Multan section) in Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) contract mode. The project has a total length of 392 kilometers, with two-way six lanes at a speed of 120 km/h, and a contract period of 36 months. The completion of the project has shortened the traffic time between the two places from 11 hours to less than 4 hours, and accelerated the construction of the "China-Pakistan Economic Corridor".

The Extension of Southern Expressway Project in Sri Lanka

The 96 km-long Extension of Southern Expressway Project from Matara to Hambantota Port consists of four main sections with four-lane two-way and the designed speed of 120 km/h. CSCEC has undertaken the second section and the third section. The project has effectively improved the traffic conditions in Sri Lanka, reducing the travel time from Colombo to Hambantota Port from more than 4 hours to about 2 hours, and driving the economic development of the entire region along the route.

The Road Rehabilitation Project in the Northern Provinces of Sri Lanka

The project, with a total length of 172 kilometers and consisting of 72 rural roads, is an important livelihood project in northern Sri Lanka. The main contents of the project are road rehabilitation, improvement and maintenance. The road section involved in the project directly reaches the door of the local people. After completion, it will greatly improve people's travel conditions, improve the transportation and infrastructure, and promote regional economic development.

The Upgrading of San José de Chiquitos to San Ignacio de Velasco Road in Bolivia

The project is located in the Santa Cruz Department, Bolivia, with a total length of about 208km. Starting in San Ignacio and ending in San José, the project mainly includes earthwork, pavement engineering, drainage engineering, culvert engineering, bridge construction, protection engineering, and signal device installation.

The Thailand Motorway Route No.6 Bang Pa-into Korat

The project, located on both sides of Highway 362 in Saraburi Province, Thailand. The project road, with the total length of the 3,828 kilometers, is designed with two-way 6 lanes, and the lane width is 36 meters. After completion of the project, the traffic pressure in Saraburi Province has been greatly improved, and it has also facilitated the life for the residents along the line. The project won the IRF Global 2021 GRAA Construction Methodology Award. This is the first time that CSCEC has won this international honor, and it is CSCEC's another breakthrough in scientific and technological innovation.

Uganda's KS Road

The project is located in the Mount Elgon at an altitude of 2,000 meters on the East African Plateau. The road has a total length of 92.12 km, with main line of 72.78 km; the high-altitude road section of 11.34km; and the town road line of 8 km. The road starts from Kapchorwa in Uganda and extends to Bukwo, the Uganda-Kenya border. After the completion of the project, the travel time between the two places will be shortened from the original eight hours to four hours, which greatly facilitates the trade between the Ugandan and Kenyan peoples and is known as the "economic lifeline" connecting the Uganda-Kenya border.

Uganda's NB Road

Being the largest municipal road and bridge project of CSCEC in Uganda, the project is also the only project that includes a large-scale interchange hub. The project construction mainly includes the design and construction of an 11-kilometer asphalt road from Najjanankumbi to Busabala, a 17-kilometer gravel auxiliary road, a 6-kilometer connecting line, two large interchanges, four vehicle-dealing bridges, and four pedestrian bridges, a U-shaped U-turn flyover and related ancillary facilities. After completion, it will open up the main roads on both sides of the Uganda airport expressway, realize the plan of closed operation of the airport expressway, and effectively alleviate the current traffic congestion in the capital of Uganda.

The 237-kilometer Road in Zambia

The road linking Southern and Central provinces of Zambia is the first interconnection channels crossing the Kafue River Basin and the Kafue National Park at an altitude of 1,200 meters. The road, 237 kilometers long and 5.5 meters wide, has 360 culverts and other structures. The completion of the project would ease challenges of transportation, in Kafue, which has effectively improved the local infrastructure and promoted the development of the local economy.

70 km Road Construction Project in Ngandere-Paro, Cameroon

As one of the National Triennal Urgency Plan projects of the Cameroonian government, this project is located in the Adamaoua region in northern Cameroon. Starting from Ngaoungdere, the largest city in northern Cameroon, it is 70 km long and includes earthwork, pavement engineering, drainage engineering, bridge and culvert engineering, traffic signs and accessory works, etc.
