McEachin Votes to Ensure Veterans’ Access to High Quality VA Health Services

Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman A. Donald McEachin (VA-04) voted in support of H.R. 4673, the Ensuring Veterans' Smooth Transition (EVEST) Act to automatically enroll eligible veterans in VA health care during their transition out of the military.

"Veterans face a wide variety of challenges and stressors, as they transition out of active service and back to civilian life," said Rep. McEachin (VA-04). "Those transition periods are also when veterans are at the highest risk for mental health issues. The EVEST Act will automatically enroll our servicemembers in VA health care with the option to opt out, simplifying the process and preventing veterans from losing access to critical services. As the son of an Army veteran, I know firsthand the challenges our servicemembers face. I was proud to vote in support of this legislation to help ease the burden on our veterans and ensure a smooth transition to civilian life."
