On April 17, 2024, State Police of Cobleskill arrested Simon Aranovitch, 20, of Seward, NY, for 12 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Imprisonment in the second degree, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, Harassment in the first degree, Aggravated Harassment in the second degree and Harassment in the second degree.

State Police received information related to past occurred domestic disputes. An investigation discovered that Aranovitch prevented the victim from leaving, obstructed their breathing, and threatened the use of firearms. He also left threatening voicemails. Further, Aranovitch was discovered to be in possession of numerous illegally possessed firearms and large capacity ammunition feeding devices, which were seized.

Aranovitch was arraigned at the Schoharie County Centralized Arraignment Part Court and remanded to the Schoharie County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000 cash, a $4,000 bond, or a $6,000 partially secured bond.
