MAHAUT CONSTITUENCY STUDENTS RECEIVES DEVICES

Students attending schools in the Mahaut Constituency can now boast of their own new devices as the Government of Dominica through the Ministry of Education, Human Resource Planning, Vocational Training and National Excellence continues the distribution of electronic devices to students.

Students from the Mahaut Primary, Massacre Primary, Warner Primary and the Campbell Primary Schools joined students from the La Plaine Primary, San Sauveur Primary, Grand Bay Primary, Tete Morne Primary, Roseau Primary, Goodwill Primary, Baroness Patricia Scotland Primary, the Penville Primary, Thibaud Primary, and the Atkinson, Salybia, Sineku Primary Schools who have all received bbrand new devices.

"It is a good day for the Ministry of Education as we try to move forward and prepare our students for what the world is and for what the world is becoming. We are building a digital Dominica and this is part of it," stated Minister for Education, Human Resource Planning, Vocational Training and National Excellence, Hon. Octavia Alfred.

The Minister went on to caution the students to be careful when using these devices.

"I want to say to you that when you turn on these devices you have become a digital citizen. Your teachers will help you to understand the responsibility of digital citizens. You are not too small to be careful with what you do with your device. Your device is a learning tool. I understand your curiosity but private information must remain private," the Education Minister added.

Member of Parliament for the Mahaut Constituency, Hon. Rayburn Blackmoore encouraged students to use the devices for the purpose that it was given.

"Parents, teachers, and of course you students must be guided by the fundamental principle of the usage of technology. It is critical therefore that the students adhere, with your support and guidance and active participation, to this fundamental guiding principle that I speak of. And I mean therefore that these devices are to be used appropriately and by so doing, used only as a tool to follow your classrooms," Hon. Blackmoore stated.

The Mahaut MP went on to say that these devices are the fulfillment of a commitment the Labour Party Administration had made to the people of Dominica.

'A commitment was made to ensure that Dominicans are connected so that they can work and live smart, so that Dominican youth specifically, are technologically savvy and able to compete with the best in the world. That is a very profound commitment, and that commitment can only come from a party in office that is mindful about the need to get our young people connected in the 21^st century," Hon. Blackmoore added.
