Onondaga County Department of Water Environment Protection - Camillus Pump Station Force Main Rehabilitation Project Phase 2

Negative Declaration

Onondaga County - The Onondaga County Department of Water Environment Protection, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Camillus Pump Station Force Main Rehabilitation Project Phase 2 will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the force main rehabilitation project focuses on addressing 28,670 linear foot of force main, as well as associated manhole structures. This project will entail lining the force main with a fully structural cured-in-place pipe liner, approximately 0.5 inches thick. Access pits will need to be excavated at the end of each liner section, at smaller angle bends, and for re-connecting three other manifolded force mains. The area at the start of Phase 2 is a congested and sensitive residential area, and access pits there would be particularly disruptive to the residents. Therefore, a 3,000 linear foot section of new 30-inch HDPE force main will be installed (via horizontal directional drilling) in a new alignment to avoid the impacts associated with lining the existing main. Temporary bypass piping would be required to maintain continued wastewater flow from the Camillus pump station while segments of the force main are out of service for rehabilitation. The bypass piping will be connected to the force main using temporary branch connections at strategic locations along the alignment.. The project is located 234 Woodmont Drive in the Town of Camillus to 265 Restoration Way in the Town of Geddes, New York.
