Lucy McBath and Carolyn Bourdeaux Provide Critical Relief to Parents of More Than 300,000 Children in Georgia

Today, thanks to Democrats in Congress like Reps. Lucy McBath (GA-06) and Carolyn Bourdeaux (GA-07), the parents of 303,500 Georgia children will receive their first monthly Child Tax Credit payment.

The Child Tax Credit, which has been expanded and improved through the American Rescue Plan, will offer working parents a lifeline and help lift hundreds of thousands of children out of poverty in Georgia.

The monthly payments, which every Republican in Congress voted against, will start hitting bank accounts on July 15. This benefit will:

  • Support 121,600 kids in GA-06 and 181,900 kids in GA-07;
  • Provide up to $300 per month per child for children under six years of age;
  • Provide up to $250 per month per child for children six to 17 years of age; and
  • Help working Americans cover the costs of child care, prepare for the back-to-school season, and get parents back in the workforce, helping American families make ends meet.

'Carolyn Bourdeaux and Lucy McBath do the work every day to support hard-working families in Georgia,' said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson. 'These monthly Child Tax Credit payments will help lift thousands of children out of poverty and will provide relief for parents who are recovering from this historic crisis. House Democrats understand the realities that middle-class families face, and once again they're delivering on their promises to get our country back on track.'
