President of the Artsakh Republic Arayik Harutyunyan appointed Kamo Vardanyan as Minister of Defense - Commander of the Defense Army of the Artsakh Republic

On September 11 President of the Artsakh Republic Arayik Harutyunyan signed a decree according to which Major-General Kamo Vardanyan was appointed Minister of Defense - Commander of the Defense Army of the Artsakh Republic.
Kamo Vardanyan was born on March 18,1966 in the village of Norshen of Martuni region.
He studied in the secondary school of Norshen village of Martuni region. In 2006 he graduated from the almighty academy of the RF Armed Forces. In 2019 he graduated from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces.
Since 1992, February 1 he has been serving in the Defense Army of Artsakh Republic. From 1992-2012 he held a number of command positions in different military units of the Defense Army: platoon commander, deputy commander of platoon, deputy battalion commander-chief of staff, battalion commander, deputy commander of the military unit, commander of the military unit, deputy commander of the unit, chief of staff.
From 2007-2012 he was the commander of the Defense Army mountaineering union. On November 12, 2012, by the decree of the President of the Artsakh Republic, he was appointed First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Defense Army.
On May 6, 2011 he was awarded the military rank of Major General by the decree of the President of the Artsakh Republic. He participated in 1992-1994, 2016 and 2020 military operations.
He was awarded the 'Combat Cross' Order of the 2nd degree of the Republic of Artsakh, the 'Medal of Courage' of the Republic of Armenia, the 'Vardan Mamikonyan' Order of the Republic of Armenia, the 1st degree Medal of the Republic of Armenia 'For Services to the Motherland', 'For Courage' and other state and departmental medals of the Artsakh Republic.
He is married, has two daughters and one son.
