DGA Chair Gov. Tim Walz released the following statement on former Superintendent of Public Instruction Jennifer McCormick officially securing the Democratic nomination for governor in Indiana:

"From one former public school teacher to another, congratulations to former Superintendent of Public Instruction Jennifer McCormick on formally becoming the Indiana Democratic nominee for governor tonight.

"As a lifelong educator, Jennifer has spent decades advocating for public schools and ensuring teachers, students, and districts had the resources they needed to thrive. Jennifer has always been an independent voice for Indiana, and is focused on bringing both parties together to fully fund public education, restore fundamental freedoms, and bring back good-paying jobs and businesses across the entire state.
