EVERYONE is welcome to join Area Dean, Rev. Daniel Ramble who is leading an Interfaith Memorial Service at 6pm on Sunday 18 September at St John the Evangelist, Ashton.

Rev. Ramble will be joined by Tameside Civic Mayor, Cllr Mike Glover and other Tameside Officials.

Residents are also encouraged to take part in a minute's silence to mark the National Moment of Reflection to pay our respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at 8pm on Sunday 18 September. The silence can be marked privately at home, with friends and family, out on doorsteps or the street with neighbours or at community vigils.

The State Funeral which has been announced to take place at 11am at Westminster Abbey, London on Monday 19 September will be widely televised. A further two-minute National Silence will be observed following the State Funeral at approximately 11:54am. Tameside Civic Mayor, Cllr Mike Glover and Tameside Officials will observe this silence outside Dukinfield Town Hall, where the public are welcome to join.

More than 300 people of all ages gathered outside Dukinfield Town Hall on Sunday, 11 September, where the Civic Mayor, Cllr Mike Glover - wearing his ceremonial scarlet robes - read the proclamation of the new monarch, His Majesty King Charles III.

It was the first time the ceremony had taken place in the borough since 1952, and as the Mayor concluded with a shout of "God Save the King!" it was thundered back by those who had come to witness the historic event. Three cheers and a loud and enthusiastic rendition of the National Anthem followed.

Floral tributes, many of which bore personal and touching messages, could be seen on the benches outside the town hall. Above, the Union Flag, had been raised from half to full mast in recognition of the Crown's continuity, instantly passing from the late Queen to the heir apparent.

Joining the Mayor on the steps were the Deputy Mayor of Tameside, Cllr Tafheen Sharif; vice-lieutenants of Greater Manchester; the executive leader of Tameside Council, Cllr Ged Cooney; the deputy leader, Cllr Bill Fairfoull; Jonathan Reynolds, the MP for Stalybridge and Hyde; representatives of the emergency services; councillors and honorary aldermen; family-members and senior officers.

Later the Mayor signed the book of condolence, one of nine to be opened across the borough's constituent towns.

Tameside Council has announced plans for its services on Monday 19 September - the day of the Queen's funeral - which has been declared a national Bank Holiday.

Tameside Libraries, Museums, Customer Service and call centre will be closed on the day however emergency response will continue and all booked funerals will go ahead. There will be no bin collections on Bank Holiday Monday 19 September.

• If you were due a green bin collection on Monday, it will be collected on Tuesday instead.
• If you were due a black or blue bin collection on Monday, it will be collected on Wednesday instead
• There will be no brown bin collections from Monday to Wednesday, to enable crews to catch up

All Active Tameside centres will also be closed on the Bank Holiday.

Tameside Council Executive Leader Cllr Gerald Cooney said: "Tameside has come together like never before to mourn in the death of Queen Elizabeth II. We want everyone to have the opportunity to pay their respects and share in the national moment of reflection, remembering a woman and queen who has been truly great in our time, putting duty above all else and serving her country with love, wisdom and dignity."
