AMES, Iowa - Iowa State announced the addition of to the gymnastics program, head coach announced Wednesday afternoon. The Spaniard arrived in Ames last week and will be eligible and traveling with the team to this weekend's quad meet at Arizona State. She will begin classes next Monday.
'Natalia is a very elegant gymnast who has the potential to compliment our team very well,' Ronayne said. 'It remains to be seen how much we will see from her in the immediate future. However, we feel over the next couple of months she can become an impactful member of our team and program.'
Ros Vaquer, who comes to Ames from Calvià on the island of Majorca in Spain, has a great deal of international experience that she brings to the fold for the Cyclones. She represented her homeland at the 2015 World Championships and the 2013 European Youth Olympic Festival.
'We feel that because of her experience internationally, her nerves will not get in the way of her talent,' Ronayne added. 'She is a competitor, she has some fight and that is exactly what we need.'
Ros Vaquer and the Cyclones begin the season on Saturday at Arizona State in a quad meet that features the host Sun Devils, No. 14 Auburn and No. 20 Iowa. The meet will begin at 5 p.m. Central Time.
