Dairyland Supports the Outdoor Recreation Alliance Trail Farm Project

Dairyland Power Cooperative has donated a total of $20,000 to the Outdoor Recreation Alliance (ORA) to support the development of their Trail Farm Project in La Crosse. The 277-acre project is made up of forest and farmland which will be transformed into a community area, providing access to 15 miles of shared-use trails and other amenities.

The purpose of this project is to allow for a broader audience to embrace nature through world-class hiking, biking and skiing trails accessible to all user levels. It will also include opportunities to play, learn and celebrate the outdoors.

"Environmental stewardship and sustainability are not just programs at Dairyland," said Dairyland President and CEO Brent Ridge. "We continue to invest in initiatives that demonstrate our deeply held view that good environmental practices reflect sound operations and contribute to the overall economic and social health of local communities. We are pleased to support the Trail Farm Project and the opportunities it will bring to everyone in the region."

This donation includes a $10,000 match from CoBank, a national cooperative bank, through CoBank's Sharing Success Program. The total donation will be used to help further the development of the ORA Trail Farm Project, which aligns with the cooperative principle of Concern for Community and Dairyland's overall sustainability goals.

"The physical location, community significance and variety of land features truly make this project unique," said ORA Executive Director Jed Olson. "This allows us to partner with diverse collaborators like Dairyland Power and build a project that truly helps our community thrive."
