Rep. Mesha Mainor to Host Fulton County Sheriff’s Debate

ATLANTA - State Representative Mesha Mainor (R-Atlanta) will host a Fulton County sheriff's debate TODAY, May 9, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at Lindsay Street Baptist Church in Atlanta.

"It will be a real conversation with the candidates one-on-one, followed by Q&A from the audience," said Rep. Mainor. "The conversation is so important. There is a forgotten constituency of incarcerated men and women who need each of us to be a voice for them."

Rep. Mainor will co-moderate the event with Reverend James Woodall, former president of the Georgia National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Governor Brian Kemp recently signed House Bill 926 into law, the Second Chance Workforce Act, sponsored by Reps. Matt Reeves (R-Duluth) and Mesha Mainor. The new law allows individuals with low-level municipal citation and misdemeanor charges to keep their driver's licenses during their cases, as long as the charges do not pertain to driving under the influence, reckless driving or child support, allowing them the ability to continue to drive to work.

Dean of the House, State Representative Gerald Green (R-Cuthbert) and Reps. Scott Hilton (R-Peachtree Corners), Deborah Silcox (R-Sandy Springs) and Farooq Mughal (D-Dacula) are co-sponsors of HB 926, the Second Chance Workforce Act.
