(Silver Spring, MD) - After being single for nearly a decade, and now that her sextuplets are older and her twins are off to college in the fall, Kate Gosselin is finally stepping out of her comfort zone and onto the dating scene in TLC's new series KATE PLUS DATE. Premiering in June 2019, the well-known mother of multiples begins a new chapter in her life dedicated to finding Mr. Right, and like most single women looking for love, quickly realizes it takes a little bit of effort and a lot of willingness for cupid's arrow to hit its mark.
'Kate has been such a big part of the TLC family, and we are ecstatic that she is letting us follow along as she starts this new journey,' said TLC President and General Manager Howard Lee. 'Viewers know Kate as the multi-tasking mother of multiples. Now, in KATE + DATE, they will see a whole new side of her, as she looks to find that special someone to share in her next chapter!'
Over the years on TLC, viewers have seen Kate as a mom of eight. Whether she was neck deep in diapers and sippie cups, scrambling to get the kids off to school or stressing over every last painstaking detail of dozens of birthday parties, her world has always revolved around her kids. While that part of her life will always take top priority, she can now see a light at the end of the tunnel and is ready to find that special someone. To begin the journey, Kate enlists the services of expert matchmakers Rachel DeAlto and Adam LoDolce and tasks them with two important jobs - to help her navigate this very new - and often scary - space and, most importantly, narrow down the vast pool of 'eligible' bachelors to find her perfect match. Kate's college-bound twins Mady and Cara are also along for the ride, providing encouragement and colorful commentary along the way.
Throughout the six-part series, Kate is introduced to 10 guys and each bachelor gets the chance to win her heart over the course of two dates; the first revolves around a fun interactive activity, while the second focuses on a more intimate setting where they can really get to know one another. As if the first date isn't awkward enough, the whole affair is tracked closely by the matchmaker, and at times Mady and Cara, who will be critiquing and commenting in real-time, sharing their opinion about how the date is going. But ultimately, it's Kate who has the final say. After being wooed by all ten mystery men, she is faced with the difficult decision of choosing just two guys from the large pool of suitors who are lucky enough to lock in a second date. The pressure is on. From adventurous and challenging encounters to fun and surprising moments, Kate puts it all out there on display: the good, the bad, and the super awkward! Throughout the process, she lets her guard down and begins to learn a lot about herself and exactly what it's going to take to find everlasting love.
