IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Defense and Security Issues Supported Draft Model Law on National Security

A meeting of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Defense and Security Issues was held in the Tavricheskiy Palace. The event was attended by MPs of the IPA CIS Member Nations, the developers of draft documents and experts.

After discussing the draft Model Laws on National Security, amendments to the Model Laws on Border Security, on the State Border, on Border Control Agencies (Forces) and the Recommendations on Improving the Legislation of the CIS Member Nations on Combating the Use of Radioactive Substances, Hazardous Chemical Substances and Pathogenic Biological Agents for Terrorist Purposes, the members of the Commission decided to ask the IPA CIS Council to submit the draft documents for consideration to the plenary session of the IPA CIS.

After discussing the draft Recommendations on the Application of Principles of International Humanitarian Law in Countering Terrorism and Violent Manifestations of Extremism, the members of the Commission proposed the developer to improve the document and submit it for the next meeting of the Commission.

The draft Amendments to the Model Criminal Code of the CIS Member Nations regarding the responsibility for terrorism financing and the draft Recommendations of the CIS Member Nations on Prevention and Suppression Violations in the Field of Information and Communication Technologies will be sent to the parliaments of the IPA CIS Member Nations.

The members of the Commission also discussed proposals for a Long-Term Plan for Model Law-Making in the CIS for 2023-2025.
