COSMOTE: E-bike pilot program for technicians

- In four bike-friendly cities: Messolonghi, Volos, Trikala, and Rhodes
- Fast, flexible, and sustainable urban mobility to improve quality of life in urban areas
- Use by COSMOTE Technical Services volunteer technician

COSMOTE is launching a pilot program for the use of electric bicycles (e-bikes), in order for COSMOTE Technical Services technicians to respond quickly and flexibly to its customer needs in urban centres. The pilot program promotes sustainable urban mobility and, at the same time, facilitates the technicians' transportation in crowded urban centres where parking is difficult.
E-bikes have already started being used in four Greek bike-friendly cities: In Messolonghi, Volos, and Trikala, which have cycle lanes, pedestrian paths, and morphologies that favour cycling, as well as on the island of Rhodes, to facilitate travel in the Old Town.

Bikes are used by volunteer technicians of COSMOTE Technical Services, who have at their disposal the necessary safety equipment (helmets, gloves, reflectors) and have been through special training.

OTE Group's Executive Director of Network Operations, Nikos Skiathitis, noted that: "Electric bicycles are an alternative, environmentally friendly means of transport that can facilitate the transportation of our technicians and meet our customers' needs in cities. I would like to warmly thank our volunteer technicians for embracing this initiative and for their willingness to take part in this pilot project, adopting the electric bicycle in their daily work. This initiative is in line with the OTE Group's sustainability strategy for, promoting sustainable urban mobility and improving quality of life in urban areas."
