Cepsa donates more than 30 works of art to the Junta de Andalucía, which will be stored at the museums of Huelva, Cádiz and Málaga

The Regional Government of Andalusia has accepted a donation of 33 works of art from Cepsa, which were part of the company's movable assets and which will now increase and enrich the museum collection of the Autonomous Community. The Andalusian Administration considers this set of interest to complete the modern art collections of the provincial museums of Cadiz, Huelva and Malaga, with artists of recognized prestige and significance in national and international creation. The destination of these works of art has been determined by the Consejería de Cultura de la Junta de Andalucía, after a thorough study of each piece.

In 2019, Cepsa began negotiations with the Regional Government so that pieces from its assets would become part of the public museums. After an evaluation and analysis, 33 works, including paintings, sculptures and graphic works, most of them by contemporary Andalusian artists, will enrich the Museums of Huelva, Malaga and Cadiz. The works are by Jorge Camacho, Víctor Pulido, José Frau, José Manuel Seisdedos, Gaspar del Arce (attributed), Fernando Rubio, Ricardo Cadenas, Emilio Díaz-Cantelar, Curro González, Gerardo Delgado, S. García Cruz (Salustiano), José María Franco, Pilar Barroso, Xavier Vilató, Jose Carlos Castro Crespo, Ignacio Alcaría, Pedro Rodríguez, Jon Castizo, Javier Gómez-Acebo, John Moodie, Faustino Rodríguez, Juan Romero de la Rosa, José Luis Domínguez, C. Gregory Stapko, Dámaso Ruano, Pablo Alonso Herráiz, María Carmen Corcelles, Liviana Leone, Antonio Belmonte, Alfonso Aramburu and Javier Buzón.

This donation highlights Cepsa's close ties with Andalusia for more than 50 years, especially in Huelva and Campo de Gibraltar, Cadiz, where the company has its most important operating centers worldwide. Throughout this time, Cepsa has contributed to the conservation, research, and enhancement of Andalusia's historical heritage through numerous activities. These include studies, preservation and dissemination at the archeological site of Carteia in San Roque-Cádiz and the Historic Port of Palos, Huelva; the cultural and environmental promotion of the Muelle de las Carabelas, also in Palos, and the Celestino Mutis Park in Huelva; and the restoration of the pictorial series of the life of St. Francis at the Monastery of La Rábida.

This interest in culture and bringing it closer to society, together with the vocation to promote exhibitions of contemporary painters in museums of the Junta de Andalucía and/or public and private institutions, has led Cepsa to conserve over time a movable asset that represents significant milestones of art in the Andalusian autonomous community.
