It's a Horror for Me to See What the Azerbaijanis Did Here: Swiss Deputies Visit Jermuk

It hurt to see what the Azerbaijanis did here in Jermuk. They used a peaceful place for spreading terror among the people. It's a horror for me to see all this: Stefan Müller-Altermatt, the deputy of the National Council of the Swiss Confederation, the Co-Chair of the Switzerland-Armenia Parliamentary Group said.

On October 16, the deputies of the National Council of the Swiss Confederation, who visited Armenia on a four-day visit, traveled to Jermuk that was shelled by the Azerbaijani armed forces on September 13.

The Azerbaijanis, using weapons of different caliber and distance, damaged the infrastructure of the city. Jermuk Resort, guest houses and roads were damaged. Kechut cemetery was struck, in that way trying also to have psychological influence on the local population. The enemy also used cluster bombs, which are prohibited by the international Conventions.

Michel Matter, the deputy of the National Council of the Swiss Confederation during his visit noted: "In Geneva we adopted a Resolution to condemn the Azerbaijani aggression of September 13-14. This is one level. Now, we must go further to the Federal Assembly: this is important. This is not only Switzerland, but also the whole Europe, because we share the same values - democracy, human rights and international law."

Stefan Müller-Altermatt highlighted the fact that they are in Jermuk shortly after happenings here. According to him, they stand not only with the colleagues of the parliament, but also with the whole country, the Armenian people.

According to the First Deputy Head of Jermuk Community Vardan Sargsyan, the urban landscape and the forest cover especially suffered. He added that, despite the situation, they are able to do restoration work.

The Swiss deputies highlighted the fact of seeing what happened with their own eyes and pass all this to their colleagues.
