Naval War College Inaugurates 29th Technical Management Course

Vice Admiral Sandeep Naithani, Chief of Materiel inaugurated 29th Technical Management Course (TMC) at NWC , Goa on 13 June 2022. Admiral Karambir Singh (Retd), former CNS , Dr Kavita Laghate, from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) and Prof Harilal Menon, VC of Goa University graced the occasion as distinguished guests. The Naval War College (NWC) is a premier training institution of Indian Navy and one of the three War Colleges of the Indian Armed Forces . TMC is one of the flagship courses of the NWC which is conducted over 22 weeks. It is attended by Commanders and equivalent ranks from the Indian Navy, Coast Guard and Mazagon Docks Limited. The course curriculum covers a wide canvas of subjects with primary focus on areas of Financial Management, Industrial Relations, Material Management, Project Management and Productivity Management in addition to National Security and Strategy, Staff Duties and Safety. During the course, the student officers undertake research on a wide variety of management subjects and are awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai on successful completion. The present course strength is 43 including two officers from the Coast Guard. Rear Admiral Rajesh Dhankhar, Commandant NWC welcomed all the participants to the prestigious and professionally challenging Technical Management Course. The Commandant urged the officers to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and continuously hone their skills by inculcating reading habits. The Chief of Materiel in his key note address congratulated all the student officers for being selected for the course and urged them to acquaint themselves with the best management practices while adapting and incorporating the latest technology available. He spelt out the real life challenges being faced by the Navy and encouraged the officers to think out of the box, come up with innovative and practical solutions. He further exhorted the officers to increase their awareness on niche technologies which would be introduced in the near future in the Indian Navy.
