UPDATE: Work Continues on U.S. 30

U.S. 30 Work Continues at Millard and Bennett Roads Schedule Update

Our utility partner is working on relocating their line and should be completed soon. We anticipate installing our traffic control for the next stage of construction on Monday, September 27.

Work for this project is being done in stages as our contractor coordinates with our utility partners and the railroad contractor. Some of our work is dependent on our partners work. For this reason our schedule is subject to change.

Project area and detour route map.

Closure, Detour & Work Details

This stage of construction requires us to close Bennett Road on the west side of the U.S. 30 intersection. We will maintain at least one lane for southbound traffic on U.S. 30.

You can access Bennett Road from U.S. 30 by using Achilles Road or Church Road. The east side of Bennett Road will remain open.

During this stage we are:

  • Widening U.S. 30 near the Bennett Road intersection.
  • Constructing swales to collect stormwater runoff and installing lighting.
  • Preparing to install a median that will restrict left turns on U.S. 30.

Traffic Impacts

  • Work hours will vary and may be performed Monday through Friday, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. There may be nightwork needed.

  • Expect lane closures and delays.

  • Signs, traffic cones and barriers will be in place to help traffic, pedestrians and bicyclists navigate safely around the area where work is being done.

Work Happening in 2022

The railroad contractor is upgrading the rail crossings at both intersections as part of the project. Some of the work we are doing needs to happen after the rail work is completed, including the final paving of the project area.
