MilanoSesto: Cimolai S.p.A. will build the new Sesto San Giovanni railway station

Le opere di costruzione della nuova stazione ferroviaria avranno inizio nel mese di luglio 2021 e vedranno la realizzazione di una passerella di 89 metri di lunghezza per 18 di larghezza, sospesa al di sopra della linea ferroviaria esistente, che unirà le due parti di Sesto San Giovanni da sempre divise dai binari, ovvero Piazza 1° Maggio e le aree ex Falck, che coprono 1,5 milioni di metri quadrati. La stazione sarà attrezzata con numerosi servizi, tra cui bar e negozi, e fungerà da punto panoramico di osservazione su tutto il progetto di MilanoSesto, volto a ridisegnare l'assetto urbano dell'intera città di Sesto San Giovanni.

Grazie alla sua funzione di 'ricongiunzione', la nuova stazione ferroviaria consentirà l'accesso alla piazza della Stazione, vera porta d'ingresso di tutto il progetto, e a Unione Zero, primo lotto privato di sviluppo per il quale Hines ricopre anche il ruolo di investitore. L'importante opera infrastrutturale servirà tutta l'area di MilanoSesto, tra cui in primis la Città della Salute e della Ricerca, nuovo polo sanitario della Regione Lombardia.

Work on the new railroad station will begin in July 2021, with the construction of an 89-meter-long 18-meter-wide overhead walkway above the existing line to connect two areas of Sesto San Giovanni that have always been separated by the railway: Piazza 1 Maggio and the former Falck complex, for a total of 1.5 million square meters. The station will offer a range of services, including bars and shops, and provide a panoramic observation point over the whole MilanoSesto project, which is designed to reconfigure the urban layout of Sesto San Giovanni.

By acting as a link, the new station will provide access to the station square, the key gateway to the whole project, and to Unione Zero, the first development lot for which Hines is also taking the role of investor. The important new infrastructure will serve the entire MilanoSesto area, in primis the Health & Research District, the Region of Lombardy's new health center.
