Traffic stop leads to drug arrest in the town of Gouverneur

On March 28, 2024, at approximately 6:55 p.m., New York State Troopers observed a 2011 Nissan Sentra committing numerous traffic violations on County Route 9 in the town of Gouverneur. Troopers initiated a traffic stop, the operator, John C. Reynolds, age 43, of Watertown, NY, showed signs of impairment and after failing SFST's. He was placed under arrest. During the stop, Reynolds was found to be in possession of a quantity of crystal methamphetamine, bags of suspected fentanyl and a scale.

Troop B- Violent Gangs and Narcotics Enforcement Team (VGNET) charged Reynolds with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th (C-Felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th (A- Misdemeanor), Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd (A-Misdemeanor) and DWAI-drugs and traffic tickets.

Reynolds was arraigned in the Town of Gouverneur and released.

VGNET was assisted by the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force, U.S. Border Patrol and Gouverneur Police Department.
